Michael Straczynski’s revamp of the Archie Superhero line continues this week with Red Circle: The Web #1; Archie Andrews proposes to Veronica Lodge in Archie #600; DC’s new Vertigo Crime imprint debuts this week with TWO graphic novels: best-selling crime writer Ian Rankin’s Dark Entries featuring Hellblazer’s John Constantine and Brian Azzarello’s Filthy Rich; Boom Studios’ popular line of Pixar comics continues with Monsters Inc: Laugh Factory #1 (of 4); Dark Horse releases more of their cool Warren Magazine reprints in the Eerie Archives Volume 2 hardcover; Alex Ross spins off more of his popular Dynamite series with Project Superpowers: Meet the Bad Guys #1 (of 4); Marvel releases Kurt Busiek and Carlos Pacheco’s Avengers Forever for the first time in 8 years, and for the first time in hardcover! Joe Special: Helix is about a deadly young woman that ties in with the new G.I. mayhem01_cover1.jpgHighlights This Week: An actor (Transformers), singer and former model creates his own comic Tyrese Gibson’s Mayhem #1 (of 3), the embodiment of vengeance, from Image Comics, who also releases Chew #3 (of 5); the race to find Steve Rogers continues in Captain America: Reborn #2 (of 5); Marvel’s Ultimatum is finally at an end with Fantastic Four Requiem #1 One-Shot and Ultimatum: X-Men Requiem #1 One-Shot. Next week the new Ultimate Comics line debuts; Wonder Woman guest stars in Secret Six #12; Keith Giffen tries his hand at the all-new Doom Patrol #1; J Michael Straczynski dives into the DC Universe at last with the first of his reimaginings of the classic Archie superheroes. This week Red Circle: The Hangman #1; the current run of The Spirit ends this week with #32 but the character will return in First Wave, DC’s upcoming pulp anthology; if you’ve been wanting to jump on Mark Waid’s Irredeemable bandwagon, this is the week to jump on. The collection of the first four issues is only $9.99 and issue #5 is only 99 cents! Angel: After the Fall Volume 1 is now available in paperback and in Angel #24 actress Juliet Landau co-writes a 2-part return for her Drusilla character; Dark Horse borrows the fake name that George Lucas used while doing location filming for Return of the Jedi with their Star Wars Dark Times: Blue Harvest #0. Incarnate #1 is a new vampire comic created and written by Nick Simmons, son of that Demon guy from Kiss. And, even though the new Children of Earth event is over we have 3 new Torchwood Hardcover Novels.
