Highlights this week: Since Halloween is upon us it’s appropriate that there’s still a few last minute terrifying titles left in our publishers’ bag of tricks and treats: Creator Mike Mignola returns to doing the art chores for the first time in a while in Hellboy: In the Chapel of Moloch one-shot; DC has shown some smarts by getting the second issue of Superman Batman VS Vampires & Werewolves #2 (of 6) out quickly; the all-new Joker graphic novel hardcover by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo; and the long-awaited rerelease of Bernie Wrightson’s Frankenstein; Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns #1 is the beginning of the prelude that will lead into the next big Green Lantern crossover The Blackest Night; The New Krypton crossover continues in Superman #681; Thor #11 is finally released; the first in a series of one-shots covering the career of The First Avenger Captain America Theater of War: Operation Zero-Point #1; Secret Invasion is represented this week in Secret Invasion: Thor #3 (of 3), Secret Invasion: X-Men #3 (of 4), Nova #18 and Avengers Initiative #18; Marvel releases three annuals: Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 ; Ultimate Captain America Annual #1 and Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #3 both preludes to Ultimatum; World of Warcraft #12 and World of Warcraft: Ashbringer #2 (of 4); Garth Ennis’s Battlefields: Night Witches #1 (of 3); one Project Superpowers #7 (of 7) ends and another Project Superpowers 2 The Supremacy #0 (only $1.00!) begins; Todd McFarlane returns to Spawn #185 along with Whilce Portacio; Token the final title in DC’s MINX line; according to creator Chris Ware the penultimate volume of Acme Novelty Library Volume 19; The Tick: The Complete Edlund; the TinTin Hardcover Boxed Set containing 21 TinTin stories and the Art of Dresden Files 2009 Wall Calendar.
